Yesterday, I finally finished watching an AMAZING movie. Note that “amazing” isn’t necessarily a good thing…
It’s somewhat amusing but suuuper-schlocky, in a worse-than-Full-Moon-Video-way. The Wikipedia entry doesn’t do it justice.
Think of Circle of Iron mixed with Quest for Fire (with lots of breasts and busted heads) with loads of Perils of Gwendoline (one of the best movies of all time)… add a dash o Caveman and some Cheech and Chong (some drugs and dreaming), with the haziness of Beastmaster and top off with a dash of Zardoz (and Zardoz is actually one of my favorite films of all time–I don’t care what anybody says!). Oh, and add a few Sleestaks from Land of the Lost.
It’s worth a gander if you’re in the mood for really bad Fantasy film. Which I guess I sometimes am… that’s okay, I knew what I was getting into; the cover and description reminded me of another “classic,” the Roger Corman produced Deathstalker, which, it has to be said, was actually marginally better.
