One of the organizations I give to is a science support org called Earthwatch. They’re pretty neat, and they do something that really warms my heart–they sponsor scientific expeditions all over the world, for a variety of studies.
And something even neater: you can volunteer to go on an expedition and contribute as a researcher. Part of being the volunteer is physically being there, and part is paying your own way. I haven’t gone on any expeditions yet, but I have contributed money. Now they have a way for you to donate, and at the same time it saves up as a fund that goes toward you going on the expeditions of your choice.
So, for Christmas, Birthdays, etc.–feel free to contribute to my Expedition Fund, instead of other kinds of gifts, if you’re feeling froggy. And feel free to donate, or volunteer, yourself. I’d love to see you there!
